Well, that is something.
Just got my foster parent “newsletter” which says that suitcases were donated to DFS and we can get them for our kids to keep forever.
It is a start.

that’s nice. i was going to ask you if i could buy callie a suitcase. her belongings are not trash and should not be treated as such.

I remember my school would do a backpack drive for foster kids, because a backpack, a duffle bag or a suitcase are all better than a black trash bag.

That’s good. I hate that garbage bag thing. (They told us that’s the most common thing during my PRIDE classes.) Even a store shopping bag would be better than a garbage bag… there’s such a negative implication to that.

Oh good! I had been going to ask if I could donate a suitcase to her, but at the same time, it’s a bit weird to offer a suitcase to someone you hope won’t need it again! But I’m delighted to hear your agency will be providing them! I’ve always kept an eye on suitcases at thrift stores and sales, always thinking that when we become a foster family, having suitcases was something I was going to make absolutely certain of.
I just can’t believe the old stereotype of garbage bags is still happening. That’s what saddens me the most about hearing of it. I told my DH and he could hardly believe it either.
