Bedrest?? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

So I just returned from the ER where I was diagnosed with Labyrinthitis. Go read it. And scroll down to the part that says: The physician will prescribe antibiotics if you have bacterial labyrinthitis. For both bacterial and viral labyrinthitis, an anti-nausea drug and a sedative also may be recommended to combat the effects of the vertigo. You will need to rest in bed for several days.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!

I was told I needed to be on bedrest and to not drive.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHA!

Those silly doctors.

Aww, fuck.

I had labyrinthitis a couple of summers ago. It totally sucked. I was convinced I had a brain tumor. However, I’ll happily report that after a couple of days on the meds they prescribed it got A LOT better. There was some residual nausea and vertigo for a couple of weeks, but not so much that I couldn’t function. Good luck!

If you were given meclazine for the vertigo and it knocks you out - try over the counter Bonine (not dramamine). It’s a very small dose of meclazine - it worked well for me when I had a horrible case of vertigo and the full strength stuff knocked me on my ass.

    Feel better.

Just take the meds. Your kids need you sleepy and recovering not in the hospital. Isn’t there some clause or something for a sick foster mommy missing or rescheduling appts? And all the rest can just sit for a couple days. Ask Callie and Bug to help out or maybe you can bribe them with rewards of some sort? Anyway good luck.

Wow–I didn’t even know that existed. Take good care of yourself and feel better soon.

Bedrest is actually not good for labrinthitis. Most of recovery happens because the brain learns how to tune out the faulty information and so once you feel up to it, the more you move around the quicker the dizziness disappears. The not driving is because of your sense of balance (i.e. if you turn your head quickly and get dizzy behind the wheel) so that’s a safety issue. But hopefully it will pass quickly.

I’ve had it too (I had viral, though), and it’s not fun. you really do just need to lie down and wait for your head to stop spinning. easier said than done with a house full of kids, I know.

sending prayers and good wishes your way . . .

    :-)

I think that you need to relax and watch a David Bowie movie. Surely THAT would help. ;)

Labrynthitis? I didn’t even know people had labrynthes! It sounds like a disease you get from wandering around aimlessly too much!

Oh my. How horrible. I am so very sorry. Sounds like something you have to take care of though. Lots of good advice from your commentors already. Now ask Bubba to color you another drawing.

If I was close enough I’d pop over and help out. Bedrest, though? Yeah right. I HOPE you can get some help and do that as much as possible but I know how hard that is to make happen.

Anyway, I hope you have help so you can rest and get well as soon as possible!
