What exactly do I say to that?
Me: Hey, how are you?
Daycare director: I’m good. I wanted to talk to you about Bug though. We’ve been have problems with her the past two days. She came in here saying that a girl had hit her with a hula hoop, and after we talked about it we found out the girl had hit her with the hula hoop and then Bug had thrown a ball at her, hard. But after that, she got very mouthy and was being smart with her teacher.
Me: Oh. Ok. I’ll talk to her tonight.
Daycare director: And yesterday she kept running around saying that she was wearing a thong. She kept telling the boys that she had a thong on.
Me: A thong? Are you kidding me? No, she doesn’t wear thongs. I wouldn’t let her wear thongs.
Daycare director: Well, she also told all the kids that every kid in foster care is required to wear thong underwear. It was the talk of the daycare yesterday. All the little girls said they hoped they never got put in foster care because they didn’t want to wear thongs.
Me: Oh. Oh my.

Well, they don’t have a lot of money for the kids, but they can’t actually hand you a naked child, so they give them as little fabric as possible to remain not-naked. It’s the only economically feasible option.

Have you pointed out that Bug is, in fact, no longer in foster care and hasn’t been for some time?

I have to agree with Krissy and mojito. I was stifling a grin through the whole post. Then again, that could be why none of my kids really “respect my authority” now.
I spent their early years trying not to laugh at everything they said and did. Ugh!

I’d have a hard time not laughing at the fictitious thong requirement.
I guess the general rule from now on will have to be “Do not discuss underwear with people outside the family.”

I bet she WAS wearing your underwear! And hey, you hit me with a hula-hoop, I may throw a ball at you too, especially if I have my thong underwear too tight….lol, sorry about Bug’s bad days, hopefully you find the right thing to say….no clue what though.

ok, so I went to the Carters outlet and asked if they had thong’s for kids because my grand daughter states all kids from foster care wears them. The lady looked at me like I was crazy!!!! She was very serious and stated “we do have some nice days of the week panties” and then said, “do foster children really wear thongs”?
Ok, so maybe I shouldn’t of asked, but I couldn’t help it.
Tell Bug I am now sending her very proper cute cotton “days of the week” underwear!
