Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! Yesterday Bug and Geo and I went to see CATS. Despite my love of musical theatre, I had never seen it. They had free face painting, and Bug got her face done up like a glittery blue cat. Do any of you love this show? I didn’t love it. Geo leaned over as the second act started and whispered, “I don’t understand the plot.” I whispered back, “There isn’t really one.” The dancing is amazing, I liked the idea of it being based on TS Eliot’s poems. But it didn’t do it for me like some of the other shows have.
I liked it though, and now I can finally say I’ve seen it. (I still haven’t seen POTO yet though. Sheesh.)
I found this meme over at Random Again, and so here is my review of 2006.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
I’m through accepting limits, cause someone says they’re so. Some things I can not change, but til I try I’ll never know.

It’s been quite a year. I personally, am very happy you kept blogging, through all the site changes and all. Thankyou for being here. It has helped me out immeasurably. Happy 2007 to you, Bug, Geo, your mom and dad and your new kids! (oh, and the bird!! the bird!)

I liked Cats when I was a kid but not so much now and I never liked the live show (some of the songs I still like but only from the British production). I’m not an Andrew Lloyd Weber fan at all. Some of his songs I like but there isn’t one show that he’s done that I go, “Now THAT’S musical theater!!”

Looking for a plot in Cats is a sure way to ruin it for yourself. I’m not a big fan of the song Memory but I love, love, love Skimbleshanks the Railway Cat.
I have to say, I don’t get the Patrick Dempsey thing. People act like he’s so hot now. He still looks like the teenager who played all the geeky roles to me.

Happy New Year.
My mother gave my the TS Eliot book when I was a kid. I liked it, but I’ve never seen the musical.

I’m with you, I didn’t love Cats although I thought the dancing was good, but like I said, I didn’t LOVE it…
Happy New Year!!
I wish many great things for you and your family (and hopefully bigger family) this year!

I’ve never seen Cats but I’ve seen the concert thing on tv and I was just not impressed. I don’t particularly like any of the songs and the cat costumes creep me out.
Happy New Year to you too! Hope it’s a great one

I’ve seen Cats and I’ve seen Phantom, both were awesome, but since I’m lame at following storylines during plays (I’m a visual learner, not a verbal one), I read up on the story beforehand. And yes, I imagine it would’ve been hard to figure out for anyone!
Definitely helped me to have a cheat sheet. And great list of stuff for the year. hmm…

So I’m sensing a Patrick Dempsey theme here–maybe you should get a Grey’s Anatomy meme together. I sense it would be popular.

Cats — I could take it or leave it, but my daughter is obsessed. She has the DVD and has practically worn it out from watching it so many times. When my husband and I went to see it live, he leaned over to me after a couple of songs and whispered “What the hell is this?” Hee.
