Worst Gifts:

Personalized stationary from my MIL with my name spelled wrong .even worse it was my legal first name that I don't use (I use my middle name) She thought it would be "fun" yeah, NOT!

Online freebie coffee cup (website printed on cup) and one pot size coffee from SIL... no one in my house drinks coffee...

Best gift:

Hand stitched checkbook cover with a calico cat on the front that looked exactly like the kitty I had just lost to hyperthyroidism.......made me cry

A childhood bad present memory: my aunt gave me a package of three pairs of factory-reject cranberry-colored itchy wool tights with one leg several inches shorter than the other. "You can wear them under your jeans to keep warm!" I was 13.

Wow, that gift from Geo was great! Me, probably the worst gift I got was when my father sent me a bunch of books for my birthday, after visiting me for a week. Several were second hand comic books, but on the top of the pile, which I opened up in a restaurant in front of a bunch of people, was a book called "Angry All the Time", a self-help book for chronically angry people. I burst out in tears. I dunno. It seems really hurtful to give someone a selfhelp book for their birthday present, esp if you know they'll likely open it in front of other people. My best gift? When I graduated from highschool... my mom had had a second hand car for years we called Putt Putt (A 11 yr old Toyota Corona), that wasn't good enough for her to use to show real estate in (a shortlived career for her), so she bought a "new" second hand car. I was excited since I was 16, and I sometimes got to borrow the car... it would be available more often. Anyways, I came home one day and she was buffin it all up, and there were new fuzzy red seat covers on it (it was white), and I asked what she was cleaning up the old car for. And she said she thought she'd do that before she gave it to me for graduation. I just burst out in tears. I had loved that old car for years, and had NEVER ever thought I would get it, or any car. esp not as a highschool grad present... only rich spoiled kids got cars for grad. I was just floored. Anyways, that's the best and worst off the top of my head.

It wasn't given to me, but I have a good bad gift story.

On year, when I was a teenager, I was at my aunt and uncle's house for Christmas. My cousins were about 8 and 11.

My aunt happens to have a really nasty stepfather that everyone in the family couldn't stand. He's one of the most offensive people you could possibly imagine. He's not "loveable scamp" or "wild and crazy" type offensive, he's just purely repulsive with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Anyway, he wasn't there that Christmas, thank goodness, but he sent them a present...

They unwrapped it and showed it around. It looked like a long, twisty, brown, heavily varnished stick with a metal thing on the end. It was some kind of novelty golf club. Then we read the label. It was a golf club made out of a horse's pe*nis. It sure was awkward when my little cousins kept asking what it was. Worst Christmas gift ever.
