Bubba is a little confused about holidays.
Me: Bubba, honey, it’s time to get up. Happy Halloween!
Bubba: Today is it! Today Halloween!
Bubba: Dad! Dad!
Geo: What buddy?
Bubba: Today Halloween! I dress like a driver and sit on Santa lap and sing happy birthday!!!! Today Daddy!!!!!

He seriously does not understand the holidays. He thinks that I am totally making up the fact that there will be a tree in our living room. He keeps insisting that the tree will be outside. Poor little guy..I’m guessing he didn’t have much of a holiday experience thus far. I’ve been playing trick or treat with Snowbaby all day but so far all she will do is run at you with her bag open. I guess that is good enough!

When my daughter was little, and she saw my DH bringing in the tree, she came to me and tattled “Daddies bringing in a big tree RIGHT in the HOUSE!! He is in BIG trouble, huh Mommy!” And hey, if a cute litte girl comes running at me with her bag open tonight, I’ll definitely give her some candy, so you go Snowbaby!! Happy Halloween to all your goblins!

open bag was all i required. no costume necessary. of course, i live in an area with high hispanic immigrant population, so there was a high possibility that they didn’t know how to say “Trick or Treat” in english.

he is too cute! I think it’s cute when kids don’t know to say “trick or treat” - one little girl whispered it to me like I could hear her above all the other kids at the door!

Ha ha ha! I TOTALLY think Santa should involved in Halloween as well–it gives him more time to shop for Christmas!

Bubba is the greatest.
He’ll sort it all out, and then it won’t be half as charming!
Here in Quebec, kids don’t say anything. They ring the doorbell. And then stand there with their bags. They might say thankyou. Happy Halloween seems to be the new “thankyou” this year. In French: Joyeux Halloween. It just seems wrong. I guess “scary halloween” is not such a good greeting? And with all the candy they ARE having a happy halloween I guess. But it really takes the edge off the threat of tricks if they don’t get treats, and ghouls wishing you happy anything just seems incongruous.
